Who we are.

In the mid 70’s a burden for souls was present in the heart of an RCMP officer who was stationed here. He began a prayer meeting with other burdened souls who came from a Baptist Church in Sacville NB and began praying in earnest for the town of Amherst. From that burden and leading, birthed from prayer, a small church was formed and The Open Bible was born and called their first Pastor. From that point they began to grow and thrive. Since that time years have gone by but the same burden for souls and dedication to prayer and the ministry of the Word of God to the people of Amherst has remained a constant. 

    We have been a fixture in this community and a beacon for those who want to hear the truth of Gods Word for these many years. 

We are a church that was born of the desire to reach souls for Christ Jesus,  to follow the truth and leading of the scriptures.  

    Though times change, the Word preached behind this pulpit remains unchanged and is just as relevant today as it was in years gone by.

    We  preach the life changing, inspired living Word of God, from the King James Bible. The Bible is our sole authority of faith and practice. We are a vibrant and active church body upholding the New Testament pattern of the Church and love of the brethren. We love and support the God-given institution of the family and desire to see it grow and flourish. We seek to be used of The Lord in helping the hurting souls of this world to find the Son of God and healing through his Word. 

    We invite you to visit, to hear the Word of God preached, to witness the work and sweet fellowship of the Lords people and to find more than just another Church. 

Our desire is to serve God with simplicity. To show others the compassion and person of Christ Jesus. He can and will make a difference in your life. 

    Some churches offer high pressure tactics, gimmicks and a seemingly never ending push for entertainment… we don’t offer gimmicks, pressure tactics or seek to entertain... just solid, steady truth, grace and help for the soul and a place of purpose and meaning. We know what it is like to be battered by circumstance and we try to be a safe haven for souls to simply enjoy the Bible, and worship Christ. We are a family of families, a place to find a welcoming handshake and a genuine concern.
