Going back to the well in 2012 (Genesis 26:18)

  • Does God still reveal Himself in prophecies, visions or dreams?
  • Where was God before He created the earth and what was He doing?
  • Why does the Bible end?
  • In 1 Samuel 11:11 It says that Saul sent men to slew the ammonites. Why did he do that? And then in verse 12 the people said to Samuel "who is he that said, shall Saul reign over us? Bring the men, that we may put them to death" Why would they want to do that if it was them who wanted Samuel to appoint them a king?
  • What does "predestined" mean in Ephesians 1:5,11
  • Can someone who commits suicide still go to Heaven?
  • Where was Jesus between his death and resurrection?
  • Does God hear your prayers?
  • Should women read scripture out loud in church?
  • 2 Thess. 2:3 concerning the rapture.
  • Acts 2:47 "...such as should be saved..."?
  • The Bible says where two or three are gathered I (Jesus) am in the midst, does that mean he walks among other "churches" ie. (Roman Catholic, etc.)?
  • In Thess. 1:10, why does it say "even Jesus"? If the word "even" was not there then it would make sense but the "even" makes it sound like there is someone else?
  • Was Ahasuerus saved?
  • What is the mystery of the lord in Ephesians 3?
  • Is there such a thing as polite swearing?
  • Isn't Baptism for the newly saved? Jesus did not need to be saved. why was he Baptized?
  • Does Matthew 12:31 teach you cannot be forgiven if you blaspheme the Holy Ghost?
  • What does it mean that the man is the head of the house?
  • The Bible says that God will return to take the saved ones to Heaven once the Gospel has been preached to the whole world. Why is it that some will be saved after the rapture because they genuinely did not hear the Gospel? Does this not contradict itself?
  • Is the ice age Biblical and when did it occur?
  • When was the Bible divided into Chapters and verses? Is this inspired as the scriptures are?
  • "Does Gen. 1:28 indicate that there was life before Adam and Eve?"
  • Why are there 39 books in the old testament?
  • Do you have to be saved (born again) to get to Heaven?
  • Can you get into Heaven by doing good works?
  • Can you loose your salvation?
  •

1 Corinthians 13:8-10 "Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away." That which is perfect is the Word of God (the Bible). There doesn't need to be prophecies anymore. Further to this it says in 2 Peter that you have a more sure Word then prophecies now (again, the Bible) 2 Peter 1:19 "We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:" It says also in the book of Hebrews that God in the past spoke to us in divers ways (this could be prophecy, tongues meaning different languages, sign or wonders…) but that now we have the son (Jesus) Hebrews 1:1-2 "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;" And then if you go to John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." it tells you that the Word is God and it makes sense with the last verse in Hebrews "these last days spoken to us by his son (Word meaning the Bible)"…

God was being God in eternity past. The Bible asserts the fact that God is eternal; His existence had no beginning and will have no ending; He always was, always is, and always will be. Gen. 21:32-34 "the everlasting God" Exodus 3:14" And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you." Deuteronomy 33:27 "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms: and he shall thrust out the enemy from before thee; and shall say, Destroy them. ", Psalm 90:2 "Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God." 93:2 " Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting." 102:24-27, Isaiah. 44:6, 57:15, Hebrews. 1:12, Revelation. 1:8 (all speak to His eternality.

The Bible ends because God revealed all that he wanted to reveal through the sixty six books we have in His word. The Bible further warns in Revelation 22:18-19 not to “add” or “take away” from His complete book!

The ammonites were a very wicked and filthy people. The Lord told them to slaughter everyone I believe for two reasons. One had to do with health. The people practiced bestiality and likely suffered from many STD's. Death was one way of purging the land from these diseases. Harsh I know but the reality of that time. Then to prevent the nation of Israel from joining up with these people and learning their idolatrous ways. When they went to Canaan they did not drive out all the people the ones who stayed behindeventually led the people into the worship of their false gods. I believe these are the two primary reasons the order was given to destroy them all. This statement is a statement of support for Saul. They are saying anybody who does not want Saul to be our King must die. They go on to officially make him king in verse 15.

The first predestined in verse 5 has to do with our adoption. When we are saved we are predetermined to be
adopted into the family as a full fledged son or daughter. The next one in vs. 11 has to do with His purposes. This
verse means that we are predetermined after salvation to fulfill His purposes in our lives. In other words we are to
do His will instead of our own. This is Gods predetermined plan for our lives. As far as Salvation is concerned, we
have a choice. In the two matters mentioned above we really do not have a choice these are predetermined and
will happen one way or the other.

Certainly a saved person could. No matter how one dies if they are saved, They are ETERNALLY secure. John 10:28-29 "And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." I Peter 1:3-5 "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." We would probably lose all rewards at the judgment seat. It is hard to fathom but any person can get to that point saved or unsaved.

Ephesians 4:8-10 "Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things."I Peter 3:18-22 "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ: Who is gone into heaven, and is on the right hand of God; angels and authorities and powers being made subject unto him."Jesus was apparently revealing himself to the saved who were in Paradise which was in the heart of the earthLuke 16:19-26 "There was a certain rich man, which was clothed in purple and fine linen, and fared sumptuously every day:And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores,And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence." (separated from hell by a great gulf) before He resurrected and ascended taking the Old Testament saints back to Heaven with him emptying out paradise.

In Isaiah 1:15 - Is this where we know that God only hears your prayers if you are saved or are right with him after you are saved?
Yes Isaiah 1:15 is one of many verses that teach that how we live and where we stand with God does affect the potency of our prayers.
In Isaiah 1:17 and 23 it talks about judging the fatherless...what does this mean??
The idea is to stand up for, to plead their case and to defend. Throughout the Bible you find God speaking much about the proper treatment of orphans. To turn away or oppress them always brought certain judgment.

1 Timothy 2:11 "Let the women learn in silence with all subjection" Does this mean women cannot talk or read scripture out loud in the church? No it does not. The key to this is in the context. Please see verse 12 of I Timothy 2 the Bible clarifies by saying that a woman is not to usurp “take, demand, exercise” authority over the man. Talking or reading scripture does not constitute usurping authority. Preaching or Pastoring are examples of usurping authority and is clearly forbidden by the Bible for the woman.

In 2 Thess. 2:3 where it says "...that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed..."Are we going to be taken up with God before Satan comes to bring false peace. Is Paul telling them that the rapture has not taken place yet because first there must be a falling away (meaning turning away from God?) and the man of sin must be revealed (satan)?
The passage mentioned is to clarify when God will come. The Thessalonians church had been visited by false teachers who stated the rapture had already taken place. Paul said, First the falling away (apostasy – turning for truth) then the rapture (see verse 6-7) the only thing holding back the revelation of antichrist is the church (he who now letteth- holding back) until  he be taken out of the way, then the antichrist will be revealed. So the order is Apostasy, Rapture, Revelation. Judgment begins the moment antichrist is revealed, judgment can’t begin until the church is safe at home with God! This verse just mentions apostasy and antichrist the following verses make it clear that the rapture occurs in the middle of the two.

The phrase emphasizes the heart of God to save whosoever turns and trusts him. 2 Peter 3:9 "...should come" this is an emphasis on the desire of God to save the world of lost humanity which is further stressed in the phrase above. Reaching the world is a certainly a joint effort between the Lord and his people. We are laborers together with him according to 1 Cor. 3:9 The more people we witness to the more people who potentially can be saved. The farmer who sows more seed will likely have a greater harvest.

The key to understanding this is in Matthew 18:20 and the phrase "gathered together in my name" To gather in His name is to gather to honour The Lord Jesus, to worship in spirit and truth, to follow His word and to be obedient to His commands. This eliminates the Roman Catholic church and many others. He is present where He is honoured by obedience to and adherence to His word. Where the Bible is proclaimed and Jesus is exalted He will be present.

It is a word used for emphasis. It emphasizes two things in the passage. That Jesus is God's son. "to wait for HIS SON" and that he was raised from the dead which is in the text as well. In the English of that day the word "even" magnified something or someone. It called special attention to Him!

    13 Dec 2008

This is a good question. We are not told as to what his standing is before the Lord in the Bible. If actions
account for anything, and they do, it appears that there was a change in His life which would lead one to believe he was a saved man. It is not a changed life that saves but it does bear testimony to salvation.

The mystery is the gospel and the age of grace. Many details were hidden from the O.T. believer. Their understanding of the cross and the church was very limited. Only the mountain tops were visible when looking from the O.T. towards the coming Messiah. The valleys were hidden (Cross, Church etc.)When Christ came the mystery was revealed. What was previously hidden away suddenly came to light. Paul by the Spirit would further clarify and reveal the mystery once hidden. That Christ Jesus came into the world to die for sinners, be buried, rise again and build the church until the rapture of that church.

The thing to remember is that God knows the thoughts and intent of the heart. He knows that the slang word used is just a cover up for the real word we want to say but don’t. Matthew 5 :37 is good instruction “But let your communication be, yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.”

The baptism was for an example. He did not have to be but was obedient and was baptized to set a pattern for us to follow. That’s what the verse that say’s,  “Suffer (allow) it to be so now; for thus it becometh us to fulfill all righteousness.” Means. He did it to be obedient and to set the example (righteousness) for us to follow.

Matthew 12:31  speaks of Blaspheming the Holy Ghost, what does that mean? To understand the Blaspheme against the Holy Ghost one must understand the context surrounding this verse. Matthew 12:22-24 To Blaspheme against the Holy Ghost is to attribute to Satan the power of God. Thus a wholesale rejection of Jesus, his claims and the convicting work of the spirit, this is the unpardonable sin. One can not be pardoned from sin which one denies to exist. To further charge the work of the spirit as the work of Satan is to certainly seal ones doom. The Pharisees here clearly charged Jesus with doing his work with Satan’s power. Demonstrating there rejection of Jesus and there resistance to the conviction of the spirit. One can not be pardoned (saved) when he refuses to yield to the convicting of the heart by the Holy Spirit.

It speaks of accountability and responsibility. The husband is to lead his home. He is the decision maker and will be accountable to God for the direction he leads his home. This is the only order that will work in the home. It does not mean that one is more valuable than the other nor does it give the man the right to be a tyrant, but it is an appointment to be responsible and accountable to God for leadership in the home.

Never will the Bible contradict itself. If it ever appears to, the problem is not with the scripture but with our understanding. The verse referred to Matthew 24:14 must be taken into context. Matthew 24 speaks of tribulation time. All who did not hear and are living during the tribulation will have an opportunity to hear before the tribulation ends. The ending spoken of here is the end of the tribulation period (7 years).Thank God some will be saved during this time. Those who reject Christ now will not be saved though after the rapture according to 2Thess. 2:10-11

In a word yes it is Biblical and it occurred just after the Flood recorded in Genesis. The Flood and its aftershocks provide the volcanic dust and gases that bring the summer cooling indispensable for the Ice Age. Water from the “fountains of the great deep” and mixing during the Flood provides a warm ocean. In the mid and high latitudes the warm ocean would cause copious evaporation and produce massive amounts of snow. The two ingredients required for an Ice Age, cool temperatures and tons of snow, were dramatically fulfilled immediately after the Genesis flood. This unique climate would persist for hundreds of years after the Flood as the intensity of the two mechanisms slowly decreased. Note “hundreds “of years not” millions” as we are wrongly told by the evolutionist.

When the books of the Bible were originally written, they did not contain chapter or verse references. The Bible was divided into chapters and verses to help us find Scriptures more quickly and easily. It is much easier to find "John chapter 3, verse 16" than it is to find "for God so loved the world..."
The chapter divisions commonly used today were developed by Stephen Langton, an Archbishop of Canterbury. Langton put the modern chapter divisions into place in around A.D. 1227. The Wycliffe English Bible of 1382 was the first Bible to use this chapter pattern. Since the Wycliffe Bible, nearly all Bible translations have followed Langton's chapter divisions.
The Hebrew Old Testament was divided into verses by a Jewish rabbi by the name of Nathan in A.D. 1448. Robert Estienne, who was also known as Stephanus, was the first to divide the New Testament into standard numbered verses, in 1555. Stephanus essentially used Nathan's verse divisions for the Old Testament. Since that time, beginning with the Geneva Bible, the chapter and verse divisions employed by Stephanus have been used. Though the divisions are not  inspired, as the scriptures are,  one can see the hand of God in the divisions ,ex. Psalm 118:9 is the exact middle of the Bible. What a fitting verse to be in the middle of the Word of God!

No. The command is to Adam and Eve. Gen. 2 expounds what we are told in short form in Gen. 1. Gen. 1 is the rough sketch and Gen. 2 is the detailed drawing. As to the word replenish the word used in Hebrew is “ma`l`e” which simply means to fill up to the full. In this context it means to populate the unpopulated earth. Had there been a people before Adam and Eve that would have been significant enough for God to tell us. If this unknown race was destroyed because of sin even more the reason to warn us who followed. This theory derives from an attempt to explain the supposed millions of years that evolutionist teach it took for life to evolve. Scripture should never bow to so called “science”. Science should bow to scripture. Rest assured it all started with Adam and Eve just as the Bible
states. Romans 5:12-14, I Cor. 15:45, Luke 3:38 All indicate Adam was the very first of his kind.

The term "canon" is used to describe the books that are divinely inspired and therefore belong in the Bible. The difficult aspect of determining the Biblical canon is that the Bible does not give us a list of the books that belong in the Bible. Determining the canon was a process, first by Jewish rabbis and scholars, and then later by early Christians. Ultimately, it was God who decided what books belonged in the Biblical canon. A book of Scripture belonged in the canon from the moment God inspired its writing. It was simply a matter of God convincing His human followers which books should be included in the Bible.

Compared to the New Testament, there was very little controversy over the canon of the Old Testament. Hebrew believers recognized God’s messengers, and accepted their writings as inspired of God. There was undeniably some debate in regards to the Old Testament canon. However, by A.D. 250 there was nearly universal agreement on the canon of Hebrew Scripture. The only issue that remained was the Apocrypha…with some debate and discussion continuing today. The vast majority of Hebrew scholars considered the Apocrypha to be good historical and religious documents, but not on the same level as the Hebrew Scriptures.

When it came to the Old Testament, they had three important facts to consider: 1) The New Testament quotes from or alludes to every Old Testament book but two. 2) Jesus effectively endorsed the Hebrew canon in Matthew 23:35 when He cited one of the first narratives and one of the last in the Scriptures of His day. 3) The Jews were meticulous in preserving the Old Testament Scriptures, and they had few controversies over what parts belong or do not belong. The Roman Catholic Apocrypha did not measure up and fell outside of the definition of Scripture, and has never been accepted by the Jews.

Concerning a measure or standard used to determine which books should be classified as Scripture, a key verse to understanding the process and purpose and perhaps timing of the giving of Scripture is Jude 3, which states that a Christian's faith "was once for all delivered to the saints." Since our faith is defined by Scripture, Jude is essentially saying that Scripture was given once for the benefit of all Christians. Isn't it wonderful to know that there are no hidden or lost manuscripts yet to be found, there are no secret books only familiar to a select few, and there are no people alive who have special revelation requiring us to trek up a Himalayan mountain in order to be enlightened?!! We can be confident that God has not left us without a witness. The same supernatural power God used to produce His word has also been used to preserve it.

YES! You absolutely HAVE to be saved in order to go Heaven. Jesus says in john 3:3 "Verily, Verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God". There is ONE God and ONE Kingdom. John chapter 3 teaches that you HAVE to be born again. John 3:7 "Marvel not that i say unto thee, YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN" John 3:15 "That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have ETERNAL life".

You may be thinking "I'm a good person, I have a good heart" This does not get you into heaven. Romans 6:23 "all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God". You are a Sinner. Everyone is a Sinner. Ask yourself these simple questions.
1- HAVE YOU EVER TOLD A LIE? If you answer honestly you will have to admit that you have. This makes you a liar.
2- HAVE YOU EVER STOLEN SOMETHING? Again, answer honestly. you have, I have, everyone has. This makes you a thief.
3- HAVE YOU EVER HATED SOMEONE? Jesus says this is equal to murder.
4- HAVE YOU EVER LOOKED WITH LUST? Be honest. Jesus says this is equal to adultery.

These are just a few examples of why YOU ARE A SINNER. James 2:10 teaches "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offended in one point, is GUILTY OF ALL". If you understand this meaning (and i think you do), it says that if you do just one of the things mentioned above it is equal to breaking ALL of God's commandments. Not one person is good enough for God, but God is just and loving and WILL forgive you for ANY SIN AT ALL. Think about it. you could have done the worst thing imaginable and our loving, just and only God will FORGIVE YOU! Not one person is better than you. God sees us all in the same way. We are all sinners. Remember "For all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God".

NO. You CANNOT and DO NOT get into Heaven by doing good works. Neither does being a good person get you into heaven. The Bible teaches us in Titus 3:5 "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the holy Ghost" This is very plain language "Not by works of righteousness which we have done..." There are NO good works we can do to get us into Heaven. The one and only answer is to be SAVED BY GOD'S MERCY AND LOVE. The Bible also teaches us in Romans 4:4-5 "Now to him hat worketh is the reward not reckoned of Grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness". Please do not go on thinking and believing that "good works" get you into Heaven. Everyone has done SOMETHING good. Is everyone in Heaven?

The answer to this question is quite simple. NO. The Bible teaches us in Romans 8:38-39 "For I am persuaded , that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" The Bible also teaches in John 10:28 "And I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand" The Bible teaches us that we CANNOT lose our salvation. Once we have SINCERELY asked God to save us and forgive us of our sins it CANNOT be taken way "neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand" The Bible also teaches us in Ephesians 4:30 That we are sealed until the day of redemption. This is the Glorious day the Lord comes back for us, the saved. "And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, Whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption"
