(2 Timothy 3:16)
The Bible is profitable for DOCTRINE, REPROFF, CORRECTION and INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS.
DOCTRINE – this is another way of saying teachings. The Bible gives us the Doctrine that we need to live our lives. In other words, it teaches us about each subject. We have the Doctrine of the Bible, Salvation, Heaven etc.
REPROOF – This means conviction. The Word of God shows us what is wrong in our lives. It’s like taking a microscope to our lives and seeing what is wrong with or in it.
CORRECTION – When we have reproof (we see what is wrong in our lives) then we are able to take the steps to correct it. The Word of God will not only teach us what is right and show us what is wrong it will tell or teach us how to correct the wrong to make it right.
INSTRUCTION IN RIGHTEOUSNESS – The Word of God will show us how to live a life that is pleasing to God. It will teach us how to be and stay right with God.
One of the greatest and biggest questions of mankind today is “Is the Bible true?”
The Bible is either true or it is false. It is either the word of men or the Word of God. It cannot be both. If the Bible is the work of men it has no value to our lives. The reason it holds such importance and high stature is that IT IS THE TRUE WORD OF GOD!
The first part of 2 Timothy 3:16 states the Scripture is given by inspiration of God. That means God Breathed. It was written by 40 different men who all wrote exactly what God wanted them to write. The Holy Spirit led and guided them to write what is now in our Bible. There are no opinions, thoughts or assumptions in our Bible.
1 Corinthians 2:9-14
It is the Holy Spirit who guides us, teaches and convicts us. The Holy Spirit, once you are saved, does not leave you. He stays with you and helps you along the way.
In order to know the Bible and believe what it says you have to first read it, understand it and live by it.
Schools and text books teach us today that we all came from monkeys and eventually evolved in the human race as we know it today. The Bible tells us that God created us in His own image and God is not a monkey. God made the first man to be an intelligent person. Adam already knew how to talk, work and do all the things that people can do.
What went wrong in the beginning?
We know that Creation happened in 7 real 24 hour days. But what happened that Adam and Eve were made to leave the Garden of Eden? Why do we need a saviour?
God created Adam in His image. God did not create Adam as a sinful man. Adam chose to sin all on his own by eating of the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. God let Adam and Eve make their own choices and when they chose to disobey God they sinned and made sin to enter the world. When Adam sinned he was separated from God and then needed a Saviour as we all do.
Romans 5:12 “wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
Jesus was born, lived a perfect sinless life and died on the cross being perfect but yet having all manner of sin brought upon Him. Jesus took ALL of man’s sin upon Himself when he died on the cross. He became the substitute for our sin. He rose again on the third day and now lives forever.
There is a heaven to gain and a hell to avoid.
Ask yourself this question. WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED? Back flips? Cart Wheels? Give all my money? Go to school? Believe in God? None of the above. Acts 16:31 and they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Many people think they have to do more to be saved because it is such a simple act. But the Bible is clear. You don’t have to do big extravagant things, Jesus paid it all!
You need repentance. This is a genuine guilt and feeling of guilt that you have done wrong against God. It is believing that you are a sinner. It also means a turning away from sin.
