HELL

The Bible speaks much more about Hell than it does about Heaven. The O.T. refers to Hell as a "Pit" Numbers 16:32-33, Isaiah 14:9, 15, Ezekiel 32:18-21. The New Testament speaks of Hell and the "abyss" Revelation 9:2. These all are the same place. We will look at the Place called Hell, The People in Hell and the Path to Hell.

1. The Place called Hell- this is a literal, real place.

Purpose Matthew 25:41 "Then shalt he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels" -  (God never intended for man to suffer there! We chose to!)

Place luke 16:23-24 "And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue;for I am in torment in this flame"  Matthew 8:12 "But the children of the Kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness;there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth"

Matthew 13:42-50 "So shall it be at the end of the world:the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire:there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth"  Matthew 25:30  "And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth"

Period Matthew 25:46 "And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal", Revelation 14:11 "And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever:and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name" , 2Thessalonians 1:8-9 " In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power" The Bible is plain that there is no end to Hell!

2. The People in Hell - real people are in Hell. The Book Revelation 20:15 "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire"   Revelation 21:8 "But the fearful, and unbeleiving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone:which is the second death"

The Body luke 16:19-31 - Remember the parable of the rich man and Lazarus(He had sight, feeling, speech, consciousness, memory and concern all in Hell)

3. The Path to Hell - plainly marked path that leads to Hell. Reject Jesus Christ as Saviour, Reject Gift of Salvation through Jesus, Reject Grace of God.

(Not sins (plural) that lands a person in Hell, It is the sin of rejecting the only way to be saved!) Jesus said,"No man cometh unto the Father but by me." John 14:6 Consider what Jesus taught about Hell:

Matthew 5:22,7:19,8:12, 13:40, 18:8-9, 23:14, 33,25:30,41-42,46,50 Mark 3:29, 9:43-48, 12:40 luke 20:47, 16:23-24, 28 John 5:29

Much of what we know about Hell, Jesus teaches us from the Gospels! God has made a way to escape this awful place through the Death of Jesus for Sin, His burial and resurrection. He has promised, "Him that cometh to me I will in now wise cast out." John 6:37
