Going back to the well in 2012 (Genesis 26:18)
God's greatness part 2
1) We cannot conceive the greatness of the Lord, but it's a blessing to attempt it!
2) Last week we studies how Creation demonstrates the greatness of God!
3) Tonight we are studying praise. The practise of praise demonstrates the greatness of God!
4) Praise does not add to His greatness, but reminds me how great He is and tells others of His greatness!
5) Definition of praise: To celebrate, give glory, to make renowned, to clearly show forth the worth of , to boast of, to give thanks, to bless.
6) "Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised!"

"There is none like the Lord, and there should be no praises like His praises. Our praise cannot be too constant, to earnest, to reverential or to sublime." - Spurgeon

7) Note several things about praise found in the scripture - remember, praise demonstrates the greatness of God!

Praise is the employment of those in Heaven. Revelation5:11-12 " And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessingRevelation 7:11-12 "And all the angels stood round about the throne, and [about] the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God,Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, [be] unto our God for ever and ever. Amen."

Presently the responsibility of the saved Psalms 22:23 " Ye that fear the Lord, praise Him"  1 Thess 5:16 " Rejoice evermore"  Phil. 4:4 " Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say rejoice"  Revelation 19:5 " And a voice came out of the throne , saying, praise our God, all ye His servants, and all ye that fear Him, both small and great."  Luke 19:35-40 " If these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out."

How we should praise Him.
Through Christ Hebrews 13:15 " By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of [our] lips giving thanks to his name."  Our songs of praise have Christ as their source.
In song. Psalm 9:11 " Sing praises to the Lord"  Eph. 5:19 "  Speaking to yourselves in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord"
With instrument. Psalm 33:2 " Praise the Lord with harp: sing unto Him with the Psaltery and an instrument of ten strings."
In prayer. psalm 100:4 " Enter into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. Be thankful unto Him, and bless His name."

By pure living. 1 Peter 2:9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:" The manner of life will shew forth the praises of God.

What we shoud praise Him for:

1. salvation - Col. 1:12
2. Provisions - Deut. 8:10
3. Mighty acts - Psalm 150:2
4. Excellent greatness - Psalm 150:2
5. Breath/life - Psalm 150:6
6. mercy and truth - psalm 115:1
7. All of His benefits - Psalm 116:12, 17-18
8. The day He's made - Psalm 118:24
9. For His goodness, enduring mercy - Psalm 118:29
10. In everything - 1 Thess. 5:18

This is not exhausted, but a sample of reasons to praise the Lord.

He;s worthy! Praise demonstrates the greatness of the Lord by reminding me of His greatness and by witnessing to others of His greatness. Let's by God's grace Practise praise! Employ our tongues in this great work of praising Him! He is both lovely and worthy!
